Large Brass Fire Bell engraved GR VI around the top, complete with clapper. Reputedly came from a Fire Station which is most likely as it was painted all over red when acquired. The paint was stripped to reveal the brass but a small amount remains ingrained in the initials. A substantial bell that really does sound a treat if you want to evacuate a wide area!

Railway Wooden Police Truncheon, London & Brighton. A quite magnificent item of considerable rarity. Almost 19" in length, it bears the large, Victoria Crown emblem at the top with 'LBR' in large, script lettering beneath. At the bottom of the shaft is the word 'Constable' within a wreath. The base of the handle has a small painted '69'. The usual LBR Truncheons have the crest and company name in full, this example is considerably more scarce than those. The London & Brighton Railway was opened between Norwood Junction and Brighton in May 1840 and amalgamated with the London & Croydon Railway to form the LBSCR in July 1846. Therefore, this Truncheon is easy to date as 1840-46. Extremely good condition throughout.

North British Railway Company silver plated, double Candelabra Lamp. Ornate, scalloped base of square symmetry flutes upwards in steps to reach a coliseum style pillar a full 11" in height. Sat on top of the pillar is a two-armed, horizontal support that reaches 8" either side. The central design is a 3¼" 'flame' finial with rams heads either side. Overall height is 18½" excluding the shades. These are later additions and the flex and plug, although very old, are probably from the 1940's or 1950's. On the base face is the full North British Railways Company crest and either side, the makers name 'Rodgers', the star & Maltese cross hallmark and the serial number 3274. Joseph Rodgers & Sons are one of the longest established silverplate companies in Sheffield. Established as early as 1682. They used the star and Maltese Cross hallmark. An incredible survivor, probably used in a Board Room or special Hotel Room. Note: GWRA recommend that before any connection to an electrical supply, this is checked by a professional electrician.

Railway Wooden Police Truncheon, South Eastern Railway. Measuring 18" in length, it has the Victoria Crown at the top and block lettering 'SER beneath, laid out such that the 'S and E' are above the 'E'. Believed to be the early design as opposed to the design of the other SER Truncheon elsewhere in this sale. The decoration is worn but for an item of this age and use, it doesn't detract from the rarity and desirability. This is the very Truncheon illustrated and described in "The History Of Truncheons" by E.R.H. Dicken F.R.G.S. The South Eastern Railway opened in May 1842 between Croydon & Dover and although worked by the SECR from 1899, as a company, it remained in existence until grouping into the SR. It is likely that this Truncheon was issued before the SECR became involved.

Worksplate, E. Borrows & Sons No.3 Providence Works 1875 Sutton St. Helens. Oval brass measuring almost 15" x 9". Considerable research has not unearthed the actual loco that this possibly carried. With so few examples in existence, it has proven extremely difficult to fully authenticate this plate, despite much research. Therefore, this one is being left up to the Buyer.
